It's been a while...
Aug. 20th, 2007 | 12:04 am
since I updated... so here goes:
- I had a wonderful week in Ohio with Brooks earlier this month. I was so glad to see him again. Missed him a lot. I get to see him again soon for SONH. Yay!
- The Montreal exchange was loads of fun. Carl was a great host.
- Finished off final exams and junk. Yay Summer vacation? ugh, never mind.
- My roomies and I spent a good amount of time tonight figuring out our plans for club. Here's hoping we can actually pull it off.

I should be sleeping.. but I'm up listening to lots and lots of really good jazz. I had a hankering for some slow bluesy stuff tonight. I should also be reading for class tomorrow... oops. Hehe. Ahh, I just want to dance right now... feel those arms around me... maybe I'll just let the music keep playing as I drift off into my dreamworld. Yes, that's what I'll do.

RB: does this make your brain bleed?
Gravity 101: Ignoring all laws of physics, life, the universe and everything, here's the query of
the day: what would happen if we all had our own gravitational pull?
Me: ..... ooowoowwwww!
RB: this is like "if it weren't for my horse..."
Me: hahhhaa
dammit dammit dammit
the universe would be a singularity....
of people!
RB: one very hot orgy
hot in the thermal sense
Thanks for that RB!

Cookout

Music: When did you leave heaven? - Gordon Webster
This weekend was filled with some much needed dancing. Got to Hibernian Hall just in time for the first band break. I'm sad we missed his first set because the rest of the evening was amazing. The trio was so good. It was good to see everyone again. Danced till 4am Friday night. Saturday was the cookout. BBQ and dancing at Peebles Island Park. At some point a bunch of us took a walk around the island. It was quite lovely. After the cookout we headed back to Jesse and Ellie's for a nap. Yeah, we were all tired. Exhausted actually. The dance Saturday night as well as the late night were at the Elks Lodge. The floor was nice. Had some of the most fun dances I've ever had that night. Or maybe it was just that it's been so long since i had such awesome dances. I dunno. Either way, I had a lot of fun. The Cangelosi Cards were absolutely amazing. I really hope they get an album out soon. They said they were working on it. Gordon Webster played with them for the main dance (and the band played till about 2am instead of 12). It was so so good. My feet never hurt so much from dancing. I really didn't spend much time sitting over the course of the night. The late night was supposed to end at 4am. But then Gordon came back from getting food. I finally got a dance with him, and then he played a few songs solo. Where before we only had a couple of couples still dancing, everyone got out on the floor again for Gordon. Others just sat beside the piano and stared in wonderment. I got his cd, Blues Till Dawn. It's so good. Listening to it just really makes me want to dance with someone special... the one thing missing from this weekend.
Sunday wasn't part of the Cookout, but we stayed the day in Albany and went to Ryan's cabin by the lake. it was a good time. We all hung out, went swimming, canoeing, and I got thrown into the lake against my will again. It was a good time. Ellie and I discovered we can't grill. it seemed to be going alright, then.... big fire. Scary. Then came Mike and Ryan's mom to the rescue. It was a really fun weekend. I'm so glad I went.

So I drove home today. As I'm on 90, my dad calls me saying he has two tickets to Chicago for me and my mom. I rushed the rest of the way home as we were cutting it close. Show was at 8. I would have been home at 7-ish. Made it home around 6-ish, even with traffic issues along the way. Rushed through dinner and got my dance stuff in a bag so I could go to Frankie's late night afterward (if the venue wasn't too full). we had to go to pick up the tickets at the Roger Smith Hotel, and then super-walked (ran and walked) the rest of the way to times sq. My aunt was waiting for us there. Basically got there just in time. It was such a good show. Love it. After the show the three of us headed toward the late night venue. My dad was going to meet us there. Got there about an hour early, so I couldn't go in. My parents and aunt wouldn't have enjoyed sit ting while i danced tonight either... I didn't bother pushing it. As I left I saw Steven & Virginie arriving, looking spiffy as all get out. Steven had a fancy purple fedora and suit. he wasn't kidding about dressing the part when he talked to us last November. And Virginie was looking lovely, as always. I wish I could have stayed, but I did have a very nice evening with my family. We went out to a bar we know and had some drinks together and just chatted for a bit. Now it's bed time because I have school work to get done in the morning and I'm hanging out with Jenn in Brooklyn in the afternoon. I'm glad I"m home this weekend. It's a nice break from the Rochester-ness.

Tonight was fun. Scary, but fun. And Jojo is awesome.
On the downside, I'm not so sure if I'll be able to go to the book signing party for Frankie tomorrow night. Apparently it's sold out.... even though it's free. I'll be really bummed if I can't go. I also don't want to end up driving into Harlem, get to the venue, and then not be able to get in. :-\
At least if I can't go I'll have a nice evening at home with my parents...

This is gonna be a lo-ooong Summer. Full time job, full time classes. Can't wait till the end of Summer. Lots of good stuff going on. Montreal Lindy Exchange, SONH, and oh yeah, Brooks gets back from California (YAY!). James reminded me today, only 61 days left till the end of Summer quarter. Man, that kid really can't wait to get out of Rochester, lol.

Stuff
Jun. 12th, 2007 | 11:23 pm
A lot went on this weekend. So I'll try to summarize and keep this short.
On Friday I got Hiccup. He's a 10 week old Pinto African Pygmy Hedgehog. He likes to sit and sleep (as expected). I have to feed him live worms as snacks. Eeeeewwww. But he loves the critters. Goes on a worm eating frenzy.

Friday was also the first night of Stompology. The White Hots played at the main dance. I had such fun. It was really good to see so many friends from out of town. I had alot of amazingly fun dances.
Saturday classes started. They were great classes. Worked me to death. I'm still sore. Carl gave us a bit of a scare when he collapsed. Paramedics took him to the hospital and kept him overnight. Glad to see he was at classes the next day rested, healthy, and well. He didn't take part in the classes though (smart move). There was a final giant jam circle at the very end of workshops. it was so much fun. Last year, that jam class was a huge hurdle for me. This year, I was really able to enjoy it. It was even more ridiculous than last year. So much fun. I'm now armed with solo jazz moves I've already forgotten but I'll always remember the experience. Each year I get more comfortable with myself. Apparently the change has been such that my family even commented about it when I was home last.
Yesterday I started my job at Wards. It's not terribly exciting work, but it pays nicely, and gives me the freedom of a very flexible schedule.

I just got back today. Steve and I cleaned out the kitchen, did some grocery shopping, I planned on cleaning my room. Failed. Hehe.... maybe later. Classes start Monday.
Ooh. Just had a phone call that made my day. Mmmm... can't wipe this smile off my face... but then again, why would I want to?

Ah, Vacation
May. 31st, 2007 | 10:25 am
Sitting around and doing nothing most of the day. Reading for leisure. Drawing again. It's nice. But I'm starting to go stir crazy. I'm actually glad classes start Monday. Still job searching. It's a pain. Going to Frim Fram tonight (yay!). Found out Bill Nye is going to Stompology (wooo!). That's so cool, I get to dance with Bill Nye the Science Guy. Hope I'm not too chicken to ask him to dance. I head back to school on Saturday. Gotta get myself set up for class again.

I came home today... told my parents I was coming home tomorrow. Surprise!!!
Things are as I expected. Dad's watching a soccer game, mom's doing her work, my grandma and my aunt want to know every little detail of my life. it's nice to be home... but... ok, I"m home, I've relaxed.. I'm bored. Can I go back now?
On the upside, Fleet week is this week so Jenn and I are heading into the city either tomorrow or Tuesday. Don't know what else I'll be doing because lord knows if I'll see any of the others while I'm home. They're all so busy. Oh well.

He left today... for good basically. And I'm sad. Focused on my work the rest of the day. Finished my grading, turned it in, then finished up my stats project (wish I could have heard back from my team though), then hung out with Lars and the rest of the guys for the evening. Watched the new episode of Heroes, played some pong (Lars and I won because we are awesome), and then went to Jay's Diner for a late night snack. Good times. Basically just keeping busy though. the rest of the week will be more of the same. Studying for finals. Amanda's visiting on Thursday evening, graduation party on Saturday, heading home for a bit on either Sunday or Monday. Depends how hungover I am. It'll be good to be home for a bit. Too bad I have to get back so soon for classes.
Waiting to hear from VWR about a summer job possibly.

I have nothing to say really. It's just been the longest day ever. I should go to sleep, but I think I still have things to do. I'm not really sure. I'm in such a daze I don't even know where I am or what I'm doing. I may as well keep doing work until I pass out right? Probably not the best idea... but it's all I got without a set plan for the next few days. Yup... just lots of work and studying. I need this quarter to end... NOW.
